Think women have equal rights in America? If you answered “yeah, of course,” you’re not alone. In fact, 70% of US voters mistakenly believe the constitution guarantees equal rights between men and women.
In 2024, before President Biden prepared to leave office, the fight to ratify the ERA had its strongest push in recent history. That’s why McCann partnered with the ERA Coalition to help educate and galvanize the next generation of ERA activists.
The UnvERAfied Badge
The verified badge on social media signals to the world that your identity is confirmed and protected. Unfortunately, women in the US don’t get that luxury. So, we worked with Meta to flip the ultimate symbol of accreditation and acknowledgement on its head.
Enter, the UnvERAfied Badge: the only icon that would allow American women to display their constitutional inequality next to their social handles.
We’d launch our badge by tapping into the ERA Coalition’s roster of female celebrity partners. Willing participants would temporarily replace their verified badges with our UnvERAfied Badge. Then, they’d invite their female followers to do the same until President Biden directs the Archivist of the United States to verify the ERA.
Ultimately, this project was put on hold after Trump took office. But our fight to ratify women’s equal rights into the constitution lives on.
